Cowboys will reportedly ‘be in the mix’ to sign free agent WR Odell Beckham Jr once healthy
As wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. nears a full recovery from the torn ACL he suffered last season, chatter has begun to pick up regarding which team might land the free agent.
To the surprise of no one, Beckham is reportedly on the Dallas Cowboys’ radar, according to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo. Per the report, the Cowboys “are expected to be in the mix” for Beckham’s services once he’s healthy and ready to pick a team.
The most recent chatter linking Beckham to Dallas falls in line with the prediction from CBS Sports’ Tyler Sullivan, who said earlier this week, “When he does put pen to paper on a contract, it’ll be with the Dallas Cowboys.”
Sullivan cited the Cowboys’ failed pursuit at the trade deadline of Houston Texans’ wide receiver Brandin Cooks as a reason they’ll eventually nab Beckham off the free agent market.
The Cowboys won’t be the only team vying to bring Beckham on board, as several teams are rumored to have interest, including the AFC East-leading Buffalo Bills.
Last Friday, Bills’ OLB Von Miller, a former teammate of Beckham, called him his “brother,” adding, “of course I want him on my team.”
“It’s a tough situation for me because he’s not just a guy, some colleague around the league I want to get on my team,” Miller said. “I don’t think blood even could make us any closer.”
Beckham, 30, hasn’t played an NFL game since suiting up for the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LVI last February. In 2021, Beckham posted 44 catches for 537 yards and five touchdowns in 14 games with the Cleveland Browns and Rams.
