Commanders’ Brian Robinson comments on arrest of juvenile from August shooting
The Washington D.C. police department announced Wednesday that they had arrested and charged a 17-year-old juvenile stemming from the August shooting of Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson. The rookie commented on the arrest Thursday afternoon.
The unnamed teenager was charged with assault with intent to rob while armed. The incident occurred on Aug. 28 and since then, Robinson has made a brisk recovery through rehab, culminating with making his NFL debut on Oct. 9.
He was medically cleared just five weeks following the shooting and posted 22 rushing yards on nine carries in his debut against the Tennessee Titans in Week 5. Robinson made his first start in Week 6 against the Chicago Bears and finished with 17 carries for 60 yards and his first professional touchdown.
The 23-year-old made another start in Week 7 vs. the Green Bay Packers and posted season-highs in rushing attempts (20) and rushing yards (73), while recording his only two receptions of the year for 13 yards. Robinson ran eight times for just 20 yards in Week 8, but since the rookie debuted, the team has gone 3-1 and won three straight.
The Commanders (4-4) will travel to take on the Minnesota Vikings (6-1) at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
