Ravens LB Justin Houston reflects on record-breaking sack of Tom Brady

It’s not unusual when Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady sets a new NFL record.

But on a 3rd-and-14 play with 1:01 left in the second half of Thursday’s 27-22 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, Brady was sacked by Ravens linebacker Justin Houston — the 555th sack of Brady’s career — making him the most-sacked quarterback in NFL history.

“It’s not surprising because I’m pretty sure he’s the oldest quarterback and he’s played the longest of everybody,” Houston told reporters after the game. “So, it’s not surprising that (he’s the most sacked). I think anytime you can put that under your belt against Tom Brady, that’s a plus. So, I’ll take it.”

The 45-year-old Brady, who’s played two more seasons than any other QB in league history, passed former Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger who held the previous record of 554.

It was the first of two sacks for Houston, who signed a one-year deal with Baltimore in the offseason. The 33-year-old former third-round pick has six sacks through five games this season, and he’s just four away from becoming the first Ravens’ player with double digit sacks since Terrell Suggs in 2017.
